Add the fuels you used in each voyage type below. Select a fuel from the dropdown (like VLSFO or MGO) and enter the quantity in tonnes. The calculator will automatically fill in the emission factors.
Once you've entered your fuel data, click the Calculate button. The calculator will automatically optimize fuel allocation and show you if you're compliant with regulations and any potential penalties.
Review your results, explore optimization options, and save your calculation for future reference. You can access all saved calculations in the History page.
New to FuelEU Maritime?
Check the information panel on the right for key terms and regulatory details. The regulation requires vessels to reduce their greenhouse gas intensity progressively from 2025 to 2050.

What do I need?
Your vessel's fuel consumption data for different voyage types (EU to EU, EU to non-EU, etc.) including fuel type and quantity in tonnes.
How does it work?
The calculator computes your vessel's greenhouse gas intensity and compares it to EU regulatory targets. If you exceed the limit, it calculates the penalty amount.
What if I don't know emission factors?
Simply select your fuel type from the dropdown (VLSFO, MGO, etc.) and the calculator automatically fills in the standard emission factors for you.
EU regulation requiring vessels to progressively reduce greenhouse gas emissions by setting stricter limits on GHG intensity over time.
Key Target Years:
Targets become stricter every 5 years, requiring cleaner fuels or operational changes.
Quantity
Amount of fuel consumed, measured in tonnes (metric tons)
GHG Intensity
Total emissions per unit of energy - your "environmental score"
Compliance Balance
Positive = you're within limits ✓
Negative = penalty applies ✗
Advanced terms (LCV, WTT, TTW, WTW) are automatically calculated when you select a fuel type
⚠️ Non-Compliance Penalty
If your vessel exceeds the GHG limit, a penalty of €2,400 per metric ton of VLSFO equivalent is applied to the excess emissions.
